The Greatest Friendship

Your partner is your gift from God and love is the experience that allows you to know his/her beauty, uniqueness... and many hidden features and characteristics which only an intimate relationship can unveil. After defining and describing conjugal charity, Pope Francis highlights a particular aspect of the spousal bond by affirming that conjugal love is «the greatest form of friendship» (AL 123) because it possess all the traits of a good friendship: concern for the good of the other, reciprocity, intimacy, warmth, stability and the resemblance born of a shared life. I can think of the intense words with which the philosopher Lewis describes friendship: «Friendship binds two people for a common interest, for the same business. It is the least jealous of loves.
