Immersed into the waters of the Jordan
Fr. Chino Biscontin
The celebration of the Baptism of Jesus (January 10) brings to an end the season of Christmas and it helps us seize the profound meaning and value of the human birth of the Son of God. He was born as a man among men and he immersed into the water of our history that was limpid coming from the hands of the Creator but then polluted by the sins committed throughout the centuries. This pollution could have lead humanity to its ruin as we can read in the narration of the great Deluge. For the will of God, the son made man wanted to be our salvation. But the plan of salvation of the Father made it necessary for the Son of God to be revealed in a body in the incarnation.
