An educational crisis

Nowadays there is a terrible rising tide of violence among young people. A teenager reprimanded by a teacher reacts by punching him, another one is stabbed because he intently gazed at a girl, not to mention the killing of a fiancée who wanted to break up a relationship. Nowadays education is in crisis and we are all aware of it. In the past all was much easier: it was enough to repeat what our parents and grandparents did, it was natural to embrace the same values and the same style of life. In our contemporary pluralistic society we live in a kind of “shopping centre of values” where everything and the opposite of everything is offered. It is impossible to reproduce the past but everyone must create his own life and that is much more difficult. (continue)
