Christmas: the triumph of light
Fr. Chino Biscontin
The solemn first prayer that we raise to God in the Christmas Mass is expressed as follows: “O God who wonderfully created the universe, then more wonderfully re-created it in the redemption, let us share in the divine life of your Son who on this day wanted to take on our human nature”. In this text, God’s historical action to give us salvation (with the events narrated in the Scriptures and culminating in Jesus) and his work as Creator are kept well together, and it could not be otherwise, since the Creator and the Saviour are one and the same.
