Hunger for love

“It is not good for man to be alone” (Gen. 2:18). On the lips of the Creator these words take on a universal value. Man, created in the image and likeness of God, need relationships such as true and sincere friendship, and profound and intimate love. But in the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus takes us a step further when he reminds us that we should not be passive in relationships, but that it is up to us to become “close to others” becoming seekers and builders of relationships. The New Testament is a wealth of information for building good, healthy relationships; we need only to remember the famous hymn to charity in which St. Paul says that love is patient, kind, it is not jealous, is not envious, it does not boast, disrespect, seek its own interest, it is not quick-tempered, nor does it brood over injury (1 Corinthians 12, 4-7)...
