In that bread and that wine

The “Corpus Christi” is one of the most felt solemnities at the popular level: in almost all dioceses it is accompanied by processions, a sign of Jesus who walks the streets of man.
During his last supper with the disciples, Jesus made a moving and heroic effort to communicate. To understand the Eucharist it is essential that we try to understand what Jesus wanted to communicate on that dramatic evening of his arrest, the eve of his killing. There were four strongest feelings in his heart. First of all, the anguish about the prospect of suffering and violent death. Secondly, the no less anguish about the fate of his mission, since the possible salvation of human history depended on it.
