Jobs, cunning and injustice
Editorial Staff
I have been looking for work for many years, and day by day, struggling to get by, I’m getting increasingly upset, because I’ve seen so much injustice. I hear politicians talking all the time about work and how to reduce the level of unemployment, but they never mention the fact that a partial solution could be found by preventing one person from doing more than one job.
Even more serious is the fact that a pensioner, who is already in receipt of a support allowance, is working, thereby taking away the possibility of a job from someone who is on the long list of unemployed. If you do two jobs, it means that you are "stealing" the job from those who do not have it, especially from young people who will never have the chance to build a decent life and make their dreams come true.

My dear friend, I understand your indignation and, above all, your difficulty in feeling recognized in the right to have a job that allows you to live with dignity. Your words and your observations are unquestionable and do us good in leading us to reflect. A profound conversion would be required in our way of imagining and pursuing the alleged right to have more rights than others: this is the basis of the race for wealth and privilege that creates so much injustice.
Even at the social level we are called upon to move from the absolute defence of personal rights to a passionate dedication to shared duties. The intention should be to give everyone the chance to hope, but this requires a willingness to share so that everyone can have a peaceful and dignified life. Who will take the first step to make this happen?
