Mother and father: more than mum and dad

In the Apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia pope Francis treats the subject of the maternal presence and the father’s role especially in Western culture. The Pope affirms that “The sense of being orphaned that affects many children and young people today is much deeper than we think” (173). On one side women wish to study, work and emancipate from the maternal role which almost imprisoned them in their homes, on the other side we speak about a society “without fathers”. It seems that men and women are going through an identity crisis and we hope that after crossing the ford they will discover a parents’ new role. (continue)
