The Pope will open the Holy doors in Rome, firstly the Door of Saint Peter’ Basilica on 24 December and he will close it on 6 January. On 9 May, feast of the Ascension, the Pope published the seal of indiction of the Jubilee “Spes non confundit” and its theme will be “Pilgrims of hope”. He also intends to open a Holy Door in a prison and to ask for the cancellation of the public debt of the countries that cannot afford pay it. On this occasion all the doors of all the dioceses will not be opened as was done for the Jubilee of Mercy; on 29 December 2024 the diocesan bishops will celebrate the Holy Eucharist as the solemn opening of the Jubilee year according to the ritual outlined by the Central Committee of the Holy Year. The Jubilee will end in the particular Churches with the Holy Doors of St John Lateran, St Mary Major, and St Paul’s Outside the Walls being closed on that same date. And finally, the Jubilee Year will draw to a close in Rome on the Solemnity of Epiphany, 6 January 2026. (continue)
