The “lightness” of patience

Saint Anthony invites us to “wear the beautiful cloth of patience” woven by the Holy Spirit while in the common imaginary patience is like a modest and heavy livery , an inclination to resignation, endurance... not “light” at all! The etymology of this word recalls the connection with suffering: the term patient comes from the Latin “patiens” from “patior”, to suffer or bear. The patient, in this language, is truly passive bearing whatever suffering is necessary and tolerating patiently. (continue)
