Although in his Sermons Saint Anthony prioritised the theme of confession, he dedicated beautiful pages to the Eucharistic devotion.

Perhaps many remember the hymn that was sung in Latin during the moments of Eucharistic adoration, the Adoro te devote. A beautiful hymn, fortunately not fallen into total disuse, composed or at least attributed to Saint Thomas Aquinas on the occasion of the solemnity of Corpus Christi, which was instituted as a feast for the entire Latin Church in 1264. A devotion coming from the areas between France and Belgium, where the Eucharistic cult propagated by various religious groups was very much alive. A veneration so intense that Saint Francis would have liked to go and settle in those territories!
