What is worth more? The gift or the giver?

Once a woman expressed her trust in Saint Anthony with these simple and lucid words: “Saint Antony always listens to me: sometimes he does not answer as I wish but things are always better than I expected: so I can feel that he listens to me and that he helps me!”. We are more accustomed to turning to Saint Anthony to ask for something: a healing, his support for an examination or for a difficult relationship... so we put first the desired gift instead of the One who can give it to us: so this gift becomes a way to come into contact with the person himself. However we understand that it is much better to have a friend close to us instead of his gift, to enjoy his presence, love, support... maybe different from what we expected because it is unique!
