We do not yet have solutions to end hunger in the world: even in the most developed countries it may fall into poverty from one day to the next. Our Association continues to give its support
Even in the most developed countries some people suffer hunger. Certainly the situation is different than the ones of some poor countries in Africa or in Asia: however the economical conditions, the structure of the production costs and the price increase, the consequence of the pandemic and now the international crisis have increased the number of people who do not succeed to provide for their needs.
According to recent studies in Europe there are tens of million people who need food aid. The number of these people has increased in 2022 because of the war in Ukraine, of the price increase of the food product and of the cost of energy. This does not concern only the weaker members of society but thousands and thousands of people who from one day to the next felt in difficult situations.
With the crisis an increasing number of people can survive thanks to the soup kitchens or to the food packages in case of Covid restrictions. We know the reasons of this situation but it is difficult to deal with. Thanks God the solidarity of the volunteers, of the associations and of single persons is increasing to help and support the new poor. We remind you that the Universal Association of Saint Anthony supports The Bread for the poor charity that since 1887 has distributed fresh bread to the poor of the town.
The Bread for the poor charity also supports the soup kitchens that offer other services in addition to meals: showers, laundry, clothes, orientation and help for bureaucratic procedures.
